Double Breasted little red coat

There's only 1 baby clothing store in town here, but I couldn't find a smart little long coat for my daughter in there. I was looking online for something suitable when I found the above 100% woolen red coat with white piping, on Machiko Baby. The brand name of the coat is called Fresh Baked.

It was reduced from $55.95 to $29.95, and just $6 postage. We received it a few days later, and it actually cost the seller $13.95 to post it because it's so thick & warm.

I was hoping to get a size 1, as my daughter was currently in size 0. Unfortunately they only had size 0 or 2 in stock, so I bought a size 2, thinking she could grow into it. My husband & I loved the style so much, we decided to buy it in size 0 also.

We think our little girl looks great in it. But then we're quite biased. :)

Unisex toddler pants

I went to an agricultural show last month local to where I live, and there was a lady there with a little stall, selling home made baby/toddler clothes.

I was chatting to her while looking through her clothes, explaining that I wish there was a clothing brand that sold more unisex styles/patterns.

People like myself who plan on having more than 1 baby, would love this especially if the next baby isn't the same sex, you could still use the same clothes handed down from the older child/children.

Babies grow very quickly, and some clothes only manage to get worn once or twice.

I ended up getting these pants from her stall for $20, and as you can see they definitely fit my criteria of unisex toddler pants. :)

Need HDMI cable? Check out Selby Acoustics!

A little earlier this year, we bought our very first ever flat screen TV (yeah I know - VERY late in the game hey?). Because it was our first, OH wanted to go all out, and we got a Sumsung 3D LED TV, from Harvey Norman. We of course bargained with them ($700 off the price they had on it), and they offered us to buy a HDMI cable NEEDED for the TV for $280.

My husband Adam thought it would be cheaper to buy one elsewhere, so of course, we declined their offer. We went to Dick Smith Electronics just a short walk away, and the exact same cables were $40 there - a MASSIVE saving, but still too expensive.

Adam got online later, and found an Australian ebay seller called "Selby Acoustics" who sold accessories for home entertainment. He found they also have a website. I did a google search for "Selby Acoustics Promo Code", and found that if I put DTV09 into the discount field, we got an extra 20% off the price.

So instead of the exorbitant amount that the TV retailer wanted to charge, we paid just $18 including free postage.

BARGAIN!

Hi Everybody! Thanks for reading my blog!

WOW - my first ever Blog post!

My name's Angela, and I'm wife of Adam, and Mum to 1 very beautiful 17 month old daughter Lara. We live in a country town of around 10,000 residents 3hrs drive west of Melbourne.

Being a stay-at-home-Mum is great, but I'm sure a lot of most people would agree with me when I say that it's not very financially rewarding. We get no support from the government because I choose not to work.

This is why I'm a bit of a savvy shopper. Well that's what I like to call it. Other names according to the Roget's Thesaurus would be "Scrooge", "cheapskate", "penny pincher", "tightwad", or even "skinflint".

It's not that we're poor - we're middle class. I just like to stretch the money as far as possible. I want to be able to give my child as much as I possibly can.

I do this by:
  • researching online (even if buying in an actual store)
  • asking for better prices
  • asking for free shipping
  • looking for promo codes
  • doing product reviews to get money off my next order
  • joining up to newsletters
I'm going to start keeping a record of my major, and occasionally minor good deals I find for everyone to keep a track of.

My next post will be a few purchases my husband & I have made online in the past few months. Thanks for reading - I hope you stick around to see stuff that I buy.
